Empty Sanctuary

Hard to imagine I would ever serve at Church and it would be just me and the Priest – but this is exactly what is happening right now. Therefore, our parishioners are watching online from their homes. I even did the Stations of the Cross online this past Friday. People seem to appreciate having the capability to participate in this way. This really highlights the value of technology even after the current crisis is over (hopefully soon). There are many people who cannot make it to Mass no matter what is going on and they often avail themselves to maybe EWTN. However, there is something wonderful about watching Mass from your home parish with people you know. This is exactly what I was told by a truck driver who was at a rest area in Denver CO watching Mass in Hampton VA. I always knew the value of technology but I am convinced this is something we should continue to do moving forward. I do not believe it will reduce attendance but will instead be a bridge between the parish and those who cannot be there.
